The Great White Throne Of Judgment
In this document we want to define the time of the great white throne of judgment as related to the Bible. As with the previous studies, we will try to stick to the facts and not deviate from what the Holy Scriptures have to say. This document will not address anything outside of scripture or try to match the current events to a key point in the Bible.
Revelation 20:11 And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them. Here, John who wrote the book of Revelation sees a great white throne in heaven. According to the description of the vision that John sees, non other then the King of King and Lord of Lords, Jesus Christ is seated on the throne. Those who are before the throne have no place to hide from Him, who sits on the throne. This is after the final rebellion and the heavens and earth are no longer present.
Revelation 20:12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. John continues to record those who are before the throne are the dead. These people are both physically and spiritually dead.
These people are the ones who have scoffed at God and His holy Word. These are the ones who lived their live in rebellion against God. Here is a partial list of the mind set of these people who are before the throne.
2Timothy 3:1 This
know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. (2)
For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud,
blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, (3)
Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce,
despisers of those that are good, (4)
Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; (5)
Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.
(6) For of this sort are they which
creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with
divers lusts, (7) Ever learning,
and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth. (8) Now as Jannes and Jambres
withstood Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds,
reprobate concerning the faith. (9)
But they shall proceed no further: for their folly shall be manifest unto all
men, as theirs also was.
Romans 1:25 Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen. (26) For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: (27) And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet. (28) And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient; (29) Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers, (30) Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, (31) Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful: (32) Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them. Here we find that these people who knowingly rejected and rebelled against God are worthy of death.
Revelation 22:11 He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still: and he that is holy, let him be holy still. At this point and time all things are complete as far as a persons life. There is no opportunity to change your ways or to repent. You have chosen your path.

Revelation 20:13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. You can't run or hide from God. No matter where you are you will be gathered before the great white throne of judgment seat of God. Again here it is telling us that only those who are dead (unsaved) will stand before the great white throne.
Revelation 20:14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. The final home for the unsaved and the devil and his fallen angels is the lake of fire. This lake of fire will continually burn forever and ever. The second death will only affect those who again are not saved, those who chose the lake of fire over serving the true and righteous God.
Those who died in Christ do not take part in the second death as stated in the following scriptures.
Revelation 2:11
He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; He
that overcometh shall not be hurt of the second
death.
Revelation 20:6
Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the
second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and
shall reign with him a thousand years.
Revelation 21:8
But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and
whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part
in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the
second death.
Revelation 20:15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire. Is your name written in the book of life? If not, why not?
Revelation 21:7 He that overcometh
shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.
