The Heavens and Earth pass away
In this
document we want to define the time of the new Heaven and the new
earth as related to the Bible. As with the previous studies,
we will try to stick to the facts and not deviate from what the Holy
Scriptures have to say. This document will not address anything
outside of scripture or try to match the current events to a key
point in the Bible.
Starting in the book of
Isaiah 65:17
For, behold, I create new
heavens and a new earth: and the former shall not be
remembered, nor come into mind. Here we are
told that God Himself will create a new Heaven and a new earth. This
has been foretold in the days of Isaiah the prophet.
We are given a little more
detail in Isaiah 66:22. We are told that the new Heaven and
earth will stand before God, being that it will never be destroyed.
Isaiah also tells us that those who will inhabit this new earth will
never die but will remain before the Lord forever.
Isaiah
66:22 For as the new heavens and
the new earth, which I will make, shall remain before me, saith the
LORD, so shall your seed and your name remain.
After the millennium and the final battle has taken place, we are
told in Scripture that the earth and Heavens will melt with fervent
heat. This is foretold in
2Peter 3:10
But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the
which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the
elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works
that are therein shall be burned up.
Here we find that the entire earth will be destroyed. Some people
will have you believe that God will not judge us or His creation.
Some people will tell you that it is wrong to hunt and eat animals.
Here we find that God will destroy the entire earth and all things
that are on the earth. This will include all of the animals, trees,
grass, and everything else that the earth worshipers currently hold
as their god. We are told of this event in
Psalms 75:3
The earth and all the inhabitants thereof are dissolved: I bear up
the pillars of it. Selah.
Here is a list of scripture that support 2Peter 3:10:
When John received the
Revelation of Jesus, He also saw this newly created heaven and
earth. The New Jerusalem coming down from Heaven. Here John is
an eye witness to this event.
Revelation 21:1
And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the
first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea. (2)
And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God
out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.
Revelation 21:1
And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the
first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.
Revelation 20:11
And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose
face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no
place for them.
Psalms 102:25 Of old hast
thou laid the foundation of the earth: and the heavens are the work
of thy hands. (26) They shall perish, but thou shalt endure: yea,
all of them shall wax old like a garment; as a vesture shalt thou
change them, and they shall be changed:
Hebrews
1:10 And, Thou, Lord, in the
beginning hast laid the foundation of the earth; and the heavens are
the works of thine hands: (11) They shall perish; but thou
remainest; and they all shall wax old as doth a garment; (12)
And as a vesture shalt thou fold them up, and they shall be changed:
but thou art the same, and thy years shall not fail.
Isaiah 51:6
Lift up your eyes to the heavens, and look upon the earth beneath:
for the heavens shall vanish away like smoke, and the earth shall
wax old like a garment, and they that dwell therein shall die in
like manner: but my salvation shall be for ever, and my
righteousness shall not be abolished.
2Peter 3:7
But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are
kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and
perdition of ungodly men. (8)
But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is
with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.
(9)
The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count
slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any
should perish, but that all should come to repentance. (10)
But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the
which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the
elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works
that are therein shall be burned up. (11) Seeing then that
all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye
to be in all holy conversation and godliness, (12)
Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein
the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall
melt with fervent heat? (13) Nevertheless we,
according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth,
wherein dwelleth righteousness.
Psalms 75:3
The earth and all the inhabitants thereof are dissolved: I bear up
the pillars of it. Selah.
Matthew 24:35
Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.
Mark 13:31
Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away.
Luke 21:33
Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away.
Matthew 5:18
For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or
one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be
fulfilled.
We are told that the earth will be changed, this is stated in
Hebrews 1:12 And as a
vesture shalt thou fold them up, and they shall be changed: but thou
art the same, and thy years shall not fail.
And
Psalms 102:26 They shall
perish, but thou shalt endure: yea, all of them shall wax old like a
garment; as a vesture shalt thou change them, and they shall be
changed:
Jesus Himself makes this point; that those who
over come (those that are saved) will have their place in the temple
with God. The saved will be in the presence of God for all of
eternity. We will have the name of God wrote on us, as a person
would write there name on a item of value to state the ownership.
Revelation 3:12
Him that overcometh will I make a pillar in the temple of my God,
and he shall go no more out: and I will write upon him the name of
my God, and the name of the city of my God, which is new Jerusalem,
which cometh down out of heaven from my God: and I will write upon
him my new name.
